Hello! My name is Julie Cummings, I am an Artist, Art Educator and Art Therapy Enrichment Provider. I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting and Drawing from Louisiana State University and a Masters of Fine Arts in Illustration from Savannah College of Art and design. I have over 14 years of experience as an art educator and over the years I have taught all ages including K-12 as well as at the collegiate level at Georgia Southern University and Savannah Technical College. I also have 2 years of post-graduate education in Art Therapy and Counseling from Saint Mary of the Woods College.
Currently, I provide Art Therapy Enrichment for older adults in three nursing homes and senior living communities as well as at the Jewish Education Alliance (JEA) community center. I pride myself in a teaching philosophy and learning environment which supports individualized, inclusive art instruction and a positive, fun, encouraging experience for all my students.
I am also a practicing artist. My main focus is painting in watercolor, acrylic and oil. I also love making collages. I am currently taking commissions with a primary focus on portraits, florals and landscapes but open to all ideas! Check out this new feature article in Canvas Rebel Magazine!
